Hail Damage and Your Insurance Claim

Hail is a no-fault comprehensive claim. Here is how the process works, what your policy covers and why the shop you choose matters.

Why Hail Is a Comprehensive Claim

Your policy has two kinds of physical-damage coverage. Collision pays when you hit something; comprehensive pays for what happens to your car that isn't a crash — theft, a cracked windshield, a tree limb, hail. Comprehensive claims are no-fault: a storm says nothing about your driving, and insurers generally don't apply an at-fault surcharge to them. If you only carry liability, hail damage is unfortunately not covered.

What "State Farm Approved Vendor" Means for You

State Farm has vetted our shop and can assign hail claims to us directly. In practice: your estimate is accepted without a second appraisal trip, supplements are handled shop-to-insurer, and you deal with one party instead of three. Approved Vendor status is not an endorsement, and under Arizona law you are always free to choose your repair shop.

Approved Vendor

Step by Step: From Storm to Repaired Car

  1. Free Inspection

We document every dent and write the estimate your insurer expects.

  2. File Your Claim

File with your insurer and tell them Scottsdale Hail Repair is your shop.

  3. We Handle the Rest

Adjuster review, supplements and scheduling go through us, not you.

  4. Pick Up Your Car

Every dent removed, factory paint intact, lifetime warranty in hand.

Supplements: When Hidden Damage Appears

Hail damage is often worse than it looks from the outside. Once trim, headliners or lights come off, technicians frequently find dents the adjuster couldn't see in the parking lot. That additional work is filed as a supplement — we document it, send it to your insurer and get it approved. You do nothing, and you don't pay for it.

Your Right to Choose Your Shop

Arizona law gives you the right to choose your repair shop. Your insurer may suggest a preferred facility, but the choice is yours — and the shop you choose works for you, not the insurer.

Our estimate follows the same PDR matrix insurers use, so approval is straightforward no matter which carrier you have.

Deductible and Rental Assistance — Who Qualifies

On qualifying comprehensive claims we may assist with up to $1,000 of your deductible and help coordinate a rental through your policy's rental benefit. Eligibility depends on the claim and the coverage — in general it applies to approved comprehensive hail claims repaired in our shop — and it is never guaranteed in advance. We explain exactly what you qualify for at the free inspection, before any work starts, and we never inflate an estimate to cover a deductible.

When a Car Is Totaled by Hail

If the approved repair cost approaches your vehicle's actual cash value, the insurer may declare it a total loss. Because PDR costs less than repainting, most hailed vehicles are repaired rather than totaled. If yours is borderline, we'll tell you plainly and walk you through the options, including owner-retained salvage where it makes sense.

What to Bring to Your Inspection

  • Your insurance card or policy number, if you have it
  • Your claim number, if you have already filed
  • The vehicle — we inspect it in our shop under proper lighting
  • Nothing else. No claim filed yet? Come in anyway — we inspect first and you decide how to proceed.
